Alumni Reunion

One of the most exciting things about the Anniversary Conference that we had at UCLA last week happened on Wednesday night after the last service. 38 of the almost 100 graduates of the university went to Los Generales (a restaurant) to have a wonderful time of testimony and fellowship. It was wonderful to see the way that the Lord has continued to work in and through the lives of our graduates. We were able to see many fine Christian couples that had met and married as a result of UCLA. We were thrilled to hear from many in full-time Christian service.

We were also encouraged to see how the Lord was using some of those graduates that we might not have expected to go on serving the Lord. Each year as you look at the graduates walking across the stage, you wonder which ones of them will go on to serve the Lord and which ones will fall away. Sometimes there are certain graduates that you are almost certain will not last in the ways of the Lord. Yet at the reunion we were able to hear the testimony of several of those that we did not expect to make it. Now one of them is in charge of a mission church. Another one, who was the first student to ever be expelled from UCLA and later came back to finish, is now teaching the pre-school Sunday School class at his church. Simply amazing! God is a great God! He does his work in the hearts of men.

In this picture you can see the couples made of UCLA graduates.

This is a picture of most of the graduates who attended.

Conference Pictures

Here is what the stage looked like. In the first picture, Jesús Alanís, one of our graduates who is on his way to Ecuador as a missionary, is giving a testimony.

Here are pictures of some of the pastors that attended the conference. The second picture gives a view of the outside of the location where we had the conference.

These are the four staff members that have been with the university since inception. We praise the Lord for a decade of faithful service!

The choir and orchestra performed an adapted version of Dr. Gustafson's "Our Lord Emmanuel." Tom Chapman, my brother-in-law, directed it and did a wonderful job.

This is a group picture of the choir and orchestra members.

I just loved the picture, so I had to post it. You can see Jonathan Latham, our new co-worker, playing his French horn.

Anniversary Conference

We are praising the Lord for the wonderful few days we had last week as we celebrated the 10 years the Lord has given the University. The conference speakers were Dr. Horn, David Cortés, Noé Mendoza, Pastor Herbster, Pastor Montes (all board members) and Flay Allen and Dr. Garlock. The Lord allowed us to hear wonderful preaching and teaching from these men. Here are some of the highlights of the conference.

*One afternoon, we had some of the people that had been involved in the University when it started gather in a conference room and reminisce about some of the wonderful things the Lord had done as the concept of the university here in Monterrey was conceived and birthed. Reminiscing about the wonderful things God has done give great confidence for the future. This session was recorded on video, and we hope to have it available for people to watch in the (near?) future.
*The university choir and orchestra performed a slightly modified rendition of Dr. Gustafson's "Our Lord Emmanuel" on Tuesday night.
*Tuesday night, Dr. Herbster gave special pins to all the board members and faculty/staff that were in attendance. Dr. Herbster received a special platter thanking him for his 10 years of leadership.
* On Wednesday night the staff members that were had been with the university since it started were honored with special plaques and gifts. We also gave special gifts to Dr. Horn, Dr. Garlock and Flay Allen in appreciation for their involvement in the university when things were just getting started.

Thank you for praying for us during these busy, busy days. We saw the rich blessing of God poured out on our lives during this time.
